Resisting Injustice.
Local 148 is committed to ensuring that our members, clients, and communities receive the respect, resources, and representation they deserve.
The Los Angeles County Public Defenders Union – Local 148, is a 501(c)(5) organization organized in 2021 by the attorneys at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. We advocate fiercely both for our attorney members and for the clients and communities we serve. We demand a seat at the table in decisions affecting compensation, leadership, and working conditions. We fight to create an independent, well-funded, and politically influential institution. We aspire to make Los Angeles County a leader in indigent representation and to advance criminal legal system reform in the county, state, and country.
